Choreographer and performer Laura Guy will discuss the development of this personal memoir, which was created over the time span of the last two years. Topics of discussion will focus on the themes explored in the performance: "l'âme d'enfant" - the childlike essence within us. The conversation can also delve into how childhood innocence and adult complexities intertwine, as well as Laura's foundational method of "Healing via Movement & Joy".The following are suggested themes for the artist talk, which the moderator is invited to choose from based on the evening's flow:Stage Partners: The role of the physical carnations as "silent partners" and the handmade paper flowers that provide a personal entry point for the audience .The Personal Soundscape: The use of recorded family voices, childhood songs, and region-specific sounds from Provence and Jylland.Physicality & Ritual: Insights into the studio process, including the "role" internal dialogue and the use of 100% set choreography.The "Outside Eye": How some of the remote dramaturgy and the perspective of a non-dancer partner helped translate private memories into a universal human experience .The discussion may also touch upon how premiering in Paraguay -far from home- forced a deeper internal discovery that now defines the piece. Audience questions are also very much welcomed.

La petite Laura

La petite Laura is both an invitation and a performance in the form of a contemporary, dance theater piece. Developed over the time span of the last two years, this personal memoir by French-Danish dance artist Laura Guy makes its European premiere following its world premiere in Paraguay (April 2025). La petite Laura weaves movement and sound into emotionally familiar vignettes - humanistic shorts that guide the audience to reflect on their own lives. Childhood innocence and adult complexities intertwine, creating a journey through past and present. With her signature physicality, Laura explores the tender terrain of healing, identity, and l'âme d'enfant - the childlike essence within us. The concept allows for a world where joy and sorrow coexist in playful conversation.

About the people

Laura Guy

Laura Guy is a Franco-Danish dancer, choreographer & movement teacher based in Berlin. She trained at Alvin Ailey’s Junior Program & earned her BA at DanceWorks (2014). She danced with Cie Le Marchepied, deepened her Gaga practice (Batsheva)& is a certified yoga teacher.
Her work blends physicality with emotional storytelling, rooted in her ‘Healing via Movement & Joy’ method (supported by Fonds Darstellende Künste). As a performer, she worked with Sasha Waltz & Guests, Marina Abramović, Staatsoper Berlin, Roni Rotem Dance, Yarra Dolev &more.
Her works were presented internationally at Gdańsk Dance Fest, Vision Gallery & Espacio E. She taught internationally (Dock11, Ballet National de Marseille, Frontier Danceland). In 2025, she choreographed 'Are you coming to my Pyjama Party' for Cia.Danza Bethaina Joaquinho & premiered her solo 'La petite Laura' in Asunción, with high acclaim. Her inclusive practice explores physicality, textures & joy of movement across Europe, Asia & South America.
