Audience Talk following 'When I Came into Being'

'When I Came into Being' is a non-verbal performance set in a world of miniature furniture, doll-sized objects, and toy-like architecture. Within this space, an adult performer attempts to make herself smaller—not physically, but through gestures, posture, and movement. Following the performance there will be a small Audience Talk.

By blending elements of reality and fantasy, she creates a visual language that allows her to convey emotions and stories without relying on words. Kazarova also draws inspiration from dreams and nature. Together with Elizaveta Polyakova, she creates a visual theater where the costume becomes an extension of the performer’s identity, blurring the lines between art and life. The Audience Talk following the performance is moderated by Kasper Jakobsen (freelance choreographer, dancer, moderator, producer).

About the Performance

When I Came into Being

The performance explores the distance between the body we grow into and the world we remember from childhood. What happens when we try to return to a time when everything seemed larger, when ordinary objects held a sense of wonder and the world felt made just for us? The miniature setting becomes a landscape of memory, where the familiar feels both intimate and strange. As the performer moves through this world, her body searches for a sense of belonging, caught between the desire to return to childhood and the impossibility of ever truly going back.

About the Artists

Venera Kazarova

Venera Kazarova works at the intersection of visual and performative art. Kazarova focuses on creating designs that convey messages and ideas, using them as central concepts in her costume-centric performances. The outfits she creates incorporate elements of psychology, mood, and messaging, treating costumes as an artistic medium, akin to songs, poems, or novels. Performance is a vital aspect of her work, as her costumes come to life through movement and embodiment. Ultimately, her goal as a contemporary artist, costume, and performance designer is to transcend the boundaries between art disciplines and create a truly immersive experience. Through her visual theater, she hopes to transport audiences into a dimension where costumes become vessels of expression, enabling communication and connection on a profound level that goes beyond words.
